About Angela B. Rolufs

Angela B. Rolufs is the Director of the Institute for Environmental Excellence (IEE) at Missouri S&T where she is responsible for leading programs to advance campus sustainability while fostering strategic alliances to promote energy and environmental research, education, and outreach programs.

Ms. Rolufs joined Missouri S&T in May of 2006 as the Assistant Director of the Missouri Transportation Institute (MTI), and was promoted to MTI Director the following year. As MTI director, Ms. Rolufs coordinated transportation research opportunities for faculty members at the four UM System campuses. She worked closely with the Missouri Department of Transportation in creating a transportation research presence for the state of Missouri. Ms. Rolufs is also personally engaged in alternative fuels research with grants from the Federal Transit Administration and U.S. Department of Energy.

Before joining Missouri S&T, Ms. Rolufs worked in partnership with the US Army Corps of Engineers in the management of major military construction programs at Fort Leonard Wood, MO as Construction
Planning Division Chief. Ms. Rolufs implemented several sustainable energy and green building practices at Fort Leonard Wood in her ten years in this position. Ms. Rolufs began her career as a U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Intern following her graduation from Missouri S&T. She was selected for a Department of Army competitive Long Term Training Opportunity in 1994, and attended the University of Kansas, Lawrence where she earned her Master of Public Administration Degree in 1995.

Ms. Rolufs holds a B.S. in Engineering Management with a Civil Engineering technical emphasis from Missouri S&T; and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Kansas.

Ms. Rolufs is a member of the American Public Works Administration (APWA), the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE), the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) and the Rolla Rotary Club. She recently served as a consultant member of the Air Force Scientific Advisory Board studying “Air Force Base Alternative
Energy”. She is a Certified Facilities Manager, and is a Fellow of the Academy of American Military Engineers.
