Vice President, A123 Systems
Rob Johnson is Vice President at A123 Systems, a leader in automotive grade lithium ion batteries. Mr. Johnson’s group is responsible for developing and marketing battery systems for auto, grid and consumer applications.
Prior to A123 systems, Mr. Johnson spent 10 years of his career with APC NASDAQ APCC (a world leader in battery back-up systems for the information technology industry). Mr. Johnson directed the development and marketing of APC’s cooling, management, and physical infrastructure offerings for data centers, networking environments and all critical elements of APC’s InfraStruXure® solution. At APC, Mr. Johnson served as CEO, North American President, and Vice-President of the Availiablity Enchancement Group. Mr. Johnson had the responsibility of managing the 6.1 billion sale of APC to Schneider Electric.
Mr. Johnson’s career started as an entrepreneur in the early 1990’s, where he started his own software business, Systems Enhancement Corporation (SEC), which was eventually sold to APC.
Mr. Johnson received his B.S. degree from Engineering Management at Missouri University of Science and Technology in 1989. In 2009, he received his honorary professional degree. He serves as a board member for C&R Mechanical Contractor, ESA, and 24M and a senior board member for the Kilo Foundation. He also serves on the advisory board for the CCP Hockey Club and is a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity where he served as President, Vice-President and Social Chairman. Mr. Johnson is also the author of “Executing your Business Transformation” published in February 2010. “Executing Your Business Transformation” provides valuable guidance for companies contemplating mergers, acquisitions, or major restructuring of their business models.
