Dr. Henry H. Sineath holds both a Master and Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of Tennessee and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Chemical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is also a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School. Dr. Henry Sineath affectionately referred to as “Dr. Si”, by students, his friends, colleagues, and clients began his career in the Chemical Engineering Field as a chemist.
In 1948, he joined academia as an Instructor of Chemical Engineering for the University of Tennessee and then later joined the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he later became head of their Industrial Products Laboratory. Following his career at Georgia Institute of Technology, he joined the American Viscose Division, FMC Corporation, where he held several key positions including Corporate Vice President of the Chemical Group.
After 25 years in Industry, in 1976, Dr. Si joined the University of Missouri-Rolla as a visiting professor for the Engineering Management Department. He established the Packaging Program under a grant from the Packaging Industry and then in 1977, he became the first Director of the program. In 1985, he endowed a fund to provide continued support for the Packaging Program. In 1981, he became Professor & Chairman of the Engineering Management Department and then retired as a Professor Emeritus in 1986. Dr. Si continues to provide the department with valuable input for the Packaging curriculum. Upon retirement from UMR, Dr. Si and his wife, Betty founded the Consultant Firm, B&H Enterprises & Consultants. They both continue to be very active in their consulting firm.
